This was quite a large project for us not only to replace a kitchen that we fitted around 15 years ago but to help guide the customer through the whole process of having an extension to the back of their home. We started the ball rolling with some 3D drawings of how the new room could look, including the kitchen, a dining area, a place for a computer desk & a comfy seating place to relax & watch the TV. The customer was bowled over by the ideas & changes to their current living space & wanted to proceed, we introduced them to a friendly local architect & after a few meetings & a few months they had planning permission & a builder with a start date. We had a couple of site meetings with the architect & the builder, we tweaked our drawings to match the slight differences onsite & the customer could finally picture the finished kitchen. We had a couple of problems (although we like to call them solution opportunities) with the layout of some existing water pipes that couldn’t be moved but with another couple of minor tweaks we started our kitchen install on schedule as planned. The customer was so excited to see the full project come together, it was something they had been thinking about for a few years, they had even looked at moving house to get a large open plan living area but they couldn’t find anything suitable & they loved where they were so having the extension on their own home made perfect sense.
From a tight almost galley style kitchen with a range cooker they now had a large spacious kitchen with eye level cooking, absolutely loads of worktop space, pull-out storage units, an almost built-in American style fridge freezer, an amazing feature island with plenty of seating for the family, as well as the rest of the room being remodeled to include matching dining room storage units, matching units under the new TV & we even made a bespoke computer desk so that it matched & fitted in perfectly. This customer had a large collection of fridge magnets which he had collected from all over the world so as part of our designs we created a bespoke magnet board in the same colour as the island base units, this was such a unique item but it really brought the complete job together.
