This was an amazing project to be involved with, the customer came to us as a recommendation from another customer of ours & already had a builder organised to remodel their home. This involved taking some walls out & re-purposing an indoor swimming pool into a sunken cinema room with part of the kitchen being installed on a bridge over the space to create the ceiling of the new room.
The customer wanted a wow factor kitchen with plenty of worktop space, somewhere for some breakfast bar stools, a big fridge freezer & somewhere for the washer & dryer to go.
We started by creating some initial designs & showing the new room in 3D so the customer could picture the full open plan space, we allowed for two massive islands each with a sink & a dishwasher, one having a generous breakfast bar area which was actually made around a pillar that was holding the house up & the other having a venting hob & even an electric pop-up TV. There was loads of floor to ceiling storage around an integrated American style fridge freezer, we made a nice recess to house the built-in cooking appliances & made a bespoke open gin cabinet with mirror back & LED lighting. This kitchen really did have everything, a wine cooler, boiling tap, drawer dishwasher, electric push-to-open bin, ice maker & even a washer & dryer hidden in some units that from the front didn’t look big enough to house them.
As this was a big job we removed the existing kitchen & re-fitted it in a different room to make a temporary kitchen for the customer to use whilst the building works where being done. There were a few moments of head scratching when it came to installing the units on the bridge over the old swimming pool (believe it or not it’s not every day we have to do this type of thing), there were a couple of alterations made & it all came together perfectly in the end with a bespoke extra-large brushed aluminium plinth being manufactured especially for them. With the islands being so large we needed a joint in the natural granite work surfaces, rather than just having a straight joint we made a feature of them by making them wavy, this was a subtle little feature but it really worked & was a great talking point with the size of the island. The remote-control pup-up TV was another feature that took some very delicate planning, the granite was cut to perfection so when it’s turned off you could hardly tell it was there but when it pops up & then swivels around it was amazing & definitely had the wow factor. This beautiful kitchen fitted perfectly with its surroundings overlooking a picturesque lake and created a dream space for entertaining friends and family.
Items used in this kitchen include, Fisher & Paykel appliances, Neff appliances, natural granite Super White work surfaces, Crown Imperial Zeluso Super Matt Handle-Less cabinets, Quooker boiling water tap, Blanco undermount sinks, Evloline Power ports & Blum soft close hinges and drawer boxes.
