This is actually the fourth kitchen that we have done for this customer over the years, with the kitchen that it was replacing being one of ours that we supplied & installed 18 years ago as part of the new build house for Hogg the Builder. The customer had been looking to move house but just couldn’t find what they wanted so decided to re-model their current home to suit their lifestyle. As part of the project we blocked a doorway up to allow for the new layout, this was a big change & the customer was unsure to start with but once it was done they really appreciated the new layout & the fact that the kitchen wasn’t a corridor anymore, it was it’s own room & felt so much bigger even though it was exactly the same size just planned out differently. The brief from the customer was that she really wanted a large island that they could sit at & she would like the appliances to be built into a tall unit rather than under the worktop as they had been, the rest was up to us to give it the wow factor!
We used a modern really soft to touch, light coffee colour fascia on a handle-less carcase with black profiles & trims, black Fisher & Paykel appliances & a matt black Quooker boiling tap. Blocking up a door way & then removing a half height wall at the opposite side allowed us to completely change the kitchen layout whilst actually using less floor space than the previous kitchen. There was an existing structural support in the room that made our plans slightly tricky but we worked around it with the shape of the island & you hardly even notice it’s there now its painted matt black to match. As part of this large kitchen we also supplied & installed a new utility room, downstairs W/C, a feature media wall with 3 sided glass electric fireplace, some fantastic floor to ceiling bronzed mirrors (where the existing doorway to the kitchen was), all new oak internal doors & the entire house with a new modern profile of skirting boards & architrave. A couple of months later we then returned to fit a new dressing room & replace the house bathroom too. Special details in this job have got to be the feature full mirrored splashbacks which bounce all of the light around the room & really give the feeling of extra space, the quartz waterfall end on the island & the heart shape created with the book matched worktop joint. It’s not everyday you get to have a go in a Ferrari & for one our fitters they had a lucky day when this customer took him for a quick spin, we just had to get a picture of the key next to the venting hob!
